Many people think that earwax is "dirty" and needs to be scrubbed away. However, your ears are actually designed to clean themselves. Using cotton buds (Q-tips) or pouring oil into your ears can cause more problems than it solves.
🛑 The Problem with Cotton Buds
Even though they look soft, cotton buds are not meant to go inside your ear canal.
They push wax deeper: Think of your ear canal like a narrow tube. When you stick a bud in, you might get a little wax out, but you are mostly pushing the rest of it deep against your eardrum. This creates a hard "plug" that can make it hard to hear.

Let your jaw do the work: When you talk, chew, or yawn, your jaw naturally moves old wax out of the ear canal. It will eventually just fall out on its own.
